Handmade ceramics and mosaics

Guest blogger Sarah Barnhoorn of Babazeka writes about Papercake.

I recently came across a new socially aware craft business called Papercake Trading. They produce the most beautiful handmade ceramic and mosaic items. Their products include the colourful but elegant Afro Baroque mosaic mirrors, a bright and quirky Journey range, and the Location range with a real African township feel.

They also produce a gorgeous range of tiles, from brights to muted beiges and whites. They're not ordinary tiles though and would definitely add a fun and fresh feel to the wall which they decorate.

I'm particularly impressed with the originality of their designs - they're not the same old mosaic products that we've all seen too many of over the past few years.

And of course, I love the fact that they're creating employment through the production of their wares. Our online shop, http://www.babazeka.com/, will be adding their products to our range shortly, and for those who live in Johannesburg and would like to see them in person, Papercake Trading can be found on Gleneagles Road in Greenside.
